PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

· Consulting service for researchers and personnel of the biomedical area, in which I mentor and/or perform statistical analysis, translations, proofreading and collaborate in the preparation of scientific documents - from March 1996 until present.
· Translator for LabEx (Hinsdale, IL) in which I translated all operating manuals of instruments used in pathology labs, exported by this company to Brazil - from February 1997 until February 1998.
· Translator for Beckman Coulter (La Brea, CA) in which I have been translating all operating manuals, labels, inserts and glossaries of the products manufactured by Beckman Coulter - from July 98 until present.
· Freelance translator for several agencies and companies located in the U.S. and/or Brazil - from March 1996 until present. A list of these agencies and companies is available upon request.
· Team leader for very large translation/ editing/ localization project (2002) -final client Bayer AG.
· Research International and Companhia Brasileira de Pesquisa e Análise (CBPA) - Research Analyst and also translator of market research questionnaires (1996).
· University of São Paulo (USP)- Professor at the Dept. of Immunology, Biomedical Sciences Institute, from 1970 until retirement in 1996.

MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS

· Published 39 papers in Brazilian (9), North American (8), Mexican (1), Dutch (7) and British (14) journals. A list of these publications is available upon request.
· Translated to/from (English and Portuguese) various scientific papers, laboratory instrument operating manuals, MSDSs, medical protocols, instructions about reagent/pharmaceutical drugs, and questionnaires to be applied in market research.
· Published four chapters in books: three in Brazil and one in the USA. These books became best-sellers in their respective areas (Basic Immunology and Immunology of Fungal Diseases).
· Worked as a referee for various Brazilian institutions for research support (CNPq, FAPESP, CAPES) and for the Revista de Microbiologia.
· Responsible Professor for the postgraduate course "Quantitative Methods Applied to Immunology" and advised or performed statistical analysis for more than 70 research projects and theses.
· Received 23 grants and fellowships.
· Was invited to lecture and be a chairperson in 14 International Conferences / Symposia, including some presentations about translations in biomedicine and statistics.
· Made 135 communications during during national and international conferences / symposia.
